![]() Formal, required, Hebrew instruction at Temple Beth Elohim begins in the third grade. Grade 3: Hebrew classes meet from 10:15 am to 11:45 am, Sunday mornings. Grade 4-7: Hebrew classes meet from 10:30 am to noon, Sunday mornings. Seventh grade/B'nei Mitzvah: In addition to Hebrew on Sunday mornings, students attend a class either Monday or Wednesday evenings from 5-6 pm. Hebrew Makeup Class: If your child misses Hebrew on any Sunday, he or she should make up the absence by attending one of our Hebrew makeup class on Mondays or Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Please call the Temple office by noon, (845) 279-4585, if you wish to have a teacher available on either Monday or Wednesday following the absence. Your child should come prepared wth his or her textbook and a pen or pencil. Hebrew Tutoring: We are also offering tutoring for any child who wishes extra help from 5:30 to 6:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Again, please call the office by noon of the day you wish to bring your child to have a teacher available. Bar/Bat Mitzvah Tutoring: At a certain point in the year before your child's Bar/Bat Mitzvah, the Rabbi will ask you to start bringing him or her on Mondays or Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. You can sign up in advance if you will regularly bring your child on either Mondays or Wednesdays, and we ask you to let us know if you will not be attending any particular week. Or, you can let us know by noon on the day you are bringing your child that he or she will be attending. We are asking for your cooperation so that we will always have a teacher available for your child and so that our teachers will come only when there is a child with whom they will be working!
