RELAY FOR LIFE
Join the Temple Family and walk in memory of our beloved Rabbi, Solomon Acrish
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event. It brings together an entire community to celebrate and support cancer survivors and their caregivers. It also is an opportunity to remember our loved ones who have lost the fight, and fight back against a disease that takes too much from too many.
Relay is an outdoor event where teams from a community are formed and walk throughout the night. The funds they raise in advance of the event provide education and patient services to those diagnosed with cancer and their families as well as to fund life-saving research. Participants take part in activities, entertainment, and various ceremonies. During the Opening Ceremony, we celebrate and support cancer survivors through a Survivor Lap. Later, the Luminaria Ceremony is a time to remember loved ones who lost their battle. The whole night is dedicated to fighting back against cancer as a community and is not just an event, but an experience
The Relay for Life Event will take place Saturday, June 10th from 6pm to midnight. Sign up at TBE will begin Sunday, January 22nd from 10:30am to 12:30pm. The “Kickoff” to our first Relay in Brewster will take place Wednesday, January 25th at TBE. There will also be a website where your “Team Leader” will be able to register your individual team. Teams consist of 10-12 people who will raise funds towards a goal we will set as a temple community. We will be walking with the staff and students of Brewster Central School District as Rabbi was an educator and school psychologist at BCSD for thirty years. In addition, there are many children and staff who have also been impacted by Cancer.
We will need electrical support, tech support, music, medical staff, food and security. Please get involved in any capacity that you are comfortable with.
Please join us as we come together as a Temple family.
